Do not smoke

Do not smoke because it harms you as much as you smoke

This image argues that smokers should stop smoking to avoid cancers or other harms that hurt them. There are about 1.3 million people who smoke in this world. Worldwide, one in five teens age 13 to 15 smoke cigarettes. Every eight seconds, a human life is lost to tobacco use somewhere in the world that translates to approximately 5 million deaths annually. The smoking harms people as much as they smoked in their lifetime. Smokers have an adverse effect not only on themselves, but also to those people around them as well. Smoking can cause a wide range of adverse health effects, including cancer, respiratory infections, and asthma. Tobacco smoke contains over 4,000 chemical compounds. More than 60 of these are known or suspected to cause cancer. Therefore, if we stop smoking, we will be able to prevent many diseases and death from occurring. Together, we can make our world a healthier place to live.
The color of this image is brown overall which represents the color of tobacco. I did not want to use bright and vivid color for the background because this image is made to warn people who smoke. However, to prevent using too much dark color, I chose to use many cartoon images and figures. The pie chart was used to give simple image for percent of adults who smoke by race/ethnicity. I divided the image in several boxes to organize the information. Also, I emphasized the numbers of information that are important.
